Wednesday 7th May

Wet start to day, taxi booked didn't arrive and if it rains in Chicago, taxis vanish! Managed after long wait to snaffle one from someone else, met Dan at Eagle Riders and began the preparations for leaving. This took some while. Eventually we were all kitted up and ready to go by midday.
Slight hiccup, so had to have another bike, eventually left 3pm. Don't ask.
Weather cleared for first part of the run, then rain arrived and got heavier as the evening became darker. Not good. Arrived finally at Route 66 Motel 8pm, thanks to Dan's making a phone call to the hotel for direction. We were just in time to eat in the restaurant as they were waiting to close! Bed quite early as nought all elese to do. Interesting rooms, nice bedlinen though.
